Thus 529 plans can be used as an estate planning tool to move assets outside of one’s estate while still retaining some measure of control if the money is needed in the future. In the 6.85% New York State personal income tax bracket, that could mean a state tax savings of $343 for an individual or $685 for a couple filing jointly.Īssets in a 529 plan are not counted as part of the donor’s gross estate for estate tax purposes. New York State taxpayers can make tax deductible contributions of up to $5,000 per year (up to $10,000 for married couples filing jointly). A distribution from a 529 plan that is not used for qualified educational expenses is subject to income tax and an additional 10% early-distribution penalty on the gains portion of the fund unless certain conditions are satisfied. Qualified education expenses do not include student loans and student loan interest. Qualified distributions from 529 plans are exempt from federal income tax. Off-campus housing costs are covered up to the allowance for room and board that the college includes in its cost of attendance for federal financial-aid purposes. The money can also be used for room and board, as long as the fund beneficiary is at least a half-time student. Money from a 529 plan can be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for study at any accredited college, university or vocational school in the United States and at some foreign universities. However, the earnings portion of the “non-qualified” withdrawal will be subject to income tax and an additional 10% penalty tax.Ī disadvantage of 529 pans is that the earnings portion of money withdrawn from a 529 plan that is not spent on eligible college expenses will be subject to income tax and an additional 10% federal tax penalty, and the possibility of a recapture of any state tax deductions or credits taken. You can reclaim the funds for yourself any time you desire, no questions asked. With few exceptions, the named beneficiary has no rights to the funds. The donor maintains control of the account. Like IRAs and other tax-qualified investments, a prime benefit of the 529 plan is that the principal grows tax-deferred and distributions for the beneficiary’s college costs are exempt from tax. 529 plans are named after section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code. A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged investment vehicle designed to encourage saving for the future higher education expenses of a designated beneficiary.

To get code completion for them, you need to enable Ivy metadata support. If your project uses local libraries created with ng generate library, in Angular 9 they are set to compile with Ivy by default. Voila! Support for Ivy metadata has now been enabled. Tick an empty box next to this key and restart the IDE in order for the change to take effect: Start typing angular.enableIvyMetadataSupport, and you’ll see the corresponding registry key. Let’s see how you can turn Ivy metadata support on in WebStorm for even faster code insight. First, press Cmd/Ctrl-Shift-A, type Registry in the Find Action popup and select it from the search results: This is likely to change later depending on user feedback, our own testing results, and changes on the Angular side. However, as some of the parts of the new standard are still being polished, we don’t have it enabled by default for now. Thanks to this new approach, WebStorm can provide you with even faster code completion and inspection results. Enabling Ivy metadata support in WebStormĪngular 9 brings a new approach of defining additional metadata in. If you’d like to update an existing project to version 9, the best option is to do so by following the detailed instructions from the official Angular website. And, of course, you can get all the benefits provided by the Ivy compiler, such as faster compilation, smaller bundle size, and improved type checking, to name but a few. However, there’s one exception, local libraries, which we’ll cover in a second. In an Angular 9 project, you can use the features you’d typically expect when working with Angular in WebStorm, such as code completion and auto imports in TypeScript and template files, all available and requiring no configuration. Creating a new project and updating to version 9 To help you work with Ivy and other Angular 9 features, we’ve added support for them to WebStorm. See this blog post for more information.Ī long-awaited update of the Angular framework, Angular 9, was finally released last week! If you’ve closely followed the news about this update, you might already know that it comes with a number of great enhancements, with the most exciting of them being the new default compiler and runtime, Ivy. Note: In WebStorm 2020.1 onwards, support for the Ivy metadata is enabled by default. Instead, its suspension system featured a leading-axle fork as opposed to a trailing-axle design. Interestingly, it was also the only Honda ATC that was not equipped with the Pro-Link rear suspension found on its siblings – a requisite back in the day for Honda racing bikes. Everything else about the machine remained untouched. The only notable changes to the wheeler are the increase in carb size (from 31 to 32 mm) and the oil pump upgrade. Often compared to the ATC250R, this Honda ATC received little to no improvements during its short-lived production run. Consequently, Honda did not have the opportunity to further develop the machine, as the industry shifted its direction towards four-wheelers. Due to the 1988 Consent Decree (or ATC ban), it only lasted in the market for two years before its demise. However, it turned out to be more of a sport machine than a racer. Honda engineers had racing in mind during the design process of the trike. Introduced in 1985, the Honda 350X launched during the height of the ATC craze, alongside other revolutionary machines – and had a lot of promise. The Honda 350X ATC is 9th in the line of all-terrain cycles and the 3rd generation of Big Reds released by Japanese manufacturer Honda. But if you are not quite convinced, this guide will enlighten you on the huge influence this three-wheeler had on present-day utility vehicles. Savvy aficionados would undoubtedly agree. Despite its inability to execute fancy stunts and jumps and its need for body English to unleash its potential, the 350X was a standout, nonetheless. But no period is too short for something as great as this bike. The Honda 350X was only in the off-roading limelight for two years. It was the penultimate installment to the legendary Big Red series – a lineup of performance-built trikes designed for aggressive trails and racetracks. Produced from 1985 to 1986, the Honda 350X ATC (Big Red 350) featured crisp brakes, grippy tires, and a powerful 350-cc mid-range motor. Given its racing lineage and prestige, it would be fascinating to know what this reputable vehicle has to offer. This head-turner is not only a serious trail machine but also included in the illustrious Big Red bikes – a part of Honda’s sport ATC lineup that began in the ‘70s. Disclosure: We may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.Ī true off-roading enthusiast would undoubtedly recognize the Honda 350X ATC as the archetype of modern-day utility vehicles but with three wheels instead of four. I love being able to crop the canvas and do more complicated things with the selection tools - there’s plenty else you can do but those were what I was badly missing in other apps. Previously my app of choice was Procreate, but ASP beats it in terms of the available tools by a mile. I’ve been using Artstudio Pro for over a year now and I really love it. The text/font adjustment editor UI experience just needs a bit more improvement Access to the contents of a text layer needs to be more immediate.Īlso, double tapping on a text layer should allow you to change font, line spacing, size, kerning for the contents of that text layer. Unless you need to have different attributes for characters in a text box, complete changes to all text should be made possible by having the text box selected without having to change the lock while the text is highlighted. You really should be able to select a text box and change the text kerning spacing, font size and type without having to go into the text itself. Also, I keep creating new txt boxes by accident when I am trying to edit text. It is hard to change the look of text without having to specifically select characters in a text box. The ONLY reason I have to give this 4 stars is the text editing which is not as easy as the older version (ArtStudio) of this app. If you’ve used photoshop, then this will be very easy to use as it’s very reminiscent of the good old days when photoshop was powerful and usable without excess complexity. There’s a lot about this layered photo/image editor that is very good. Good & Easy replacement for old school Photoshop

It’s a good case study in how measurements don’t tell the whole story of how a watch will wear on the wrist, as well as how much difference small design choices can make. While the measurements are nearly unchanged, the new design tweaks have made what many considered a large (often too large) and bulky tool watch into a more versatile daily-wear. Travis Pike is a former Marine Machine gunner who served with 2nd Bn 2nd Marines for 5 years. What do you think? Is the subcompact still your go-to? Let us know below. They might not be dead, but they have certainly fallen off and lost ground. The subcompact handgun has lost a lot of ground since the advent of the micro compact, but I see it sticking around for some time to come. Subcompacts, on the other hand, can give you all the rail you need for mounting compact lights and other accessories. Some micro compacts feature standard Picatinny rail, but most don’t. When loaded with modern self-defense loads, those thicker grips excel at making the gun easier to control. Thick grips might make concealment difficult, but those same thick grips help distribute recoil and make the weapon easier to control. Sure, mini optics exist, but if you want a full-sized, proven optic like the Trijicon RMR or the Leupold DPP, then you need the slide space to accommodate it, and subcompacts offer that. If you like being high speed, then the larger, thicker slide offers you more mounting space for optics. From a law enforcement perspective, I could see the appeal of carrying a Glock 26 alongside a Glock 17 just for the shared magazine capability. Being able to share magazines with another gun can be quite valuable. The subcompact versions of these guns are compatible with the compact and full-sized variants of most guns. On top of that, the subcompact still offers a couple of advantages worth noting. If you’ve already invested in your platform, your holster,s magazines, etc., then it might not be the best switch for you. However, sometimes the juice just really isn’t worth the hundreds of dollars worth of squeeze. The gun community does love the latest and greatest, and there isn’t an issue with that. If you’ve long carried your favorite Glock 26, is it worth upgrading to something like the p365? Well, it might be, but it’s certainly not necessary. With that in mind, what can the subcompact still offer the everyday shooter? What Does the Subcompact Still Offer? They couldn’t, and I think we are seeing them slowly slip away in the gun ether without much fanfare or appreciation. How could the thick subcompact ever hope to keep up? They were smaller, thinner, sleeker, and easier to carry. Micro compacts beat back subcompact pistols by offering you a much thinner grip paired with the same standard capacity of a subcompact. I can break this down into one single word, and that word is efficiency. These guns ruled for quite some time, but it seems that the micro compact just does it better. They also typically held ten rounds or so, at least when they chambered 9mm. They were small but often still thick and blocky. These guns became popular for concealed carry and as backup sidearms for law enforcement. Guns like the Glock 26 long defined the subcompact genre.Ĭompanies took their full-sized pistols and cut their grips and barrels down to make a much smaller weapon but didn’t do much more than that. Subcompacts are the smallest versions of other, larger guns. Some might consider the P365 a subcompact, but I think most parlance calls the P365 and guns like it micro compacts. That being said, has the deather of the subcompact been greatly exaggerated? What Do I Mean By Subcompact?Ī lot of terms in the gun world are a bit nebulous, so it’s important to define terms before we dive in a bit deeper. In today’s world, if you carry a gun that isn’t an inch thin or less and at the same time carries ten rounds, it might be considered obsolete. Much has been said about the death of the single stack, but today we are going to talk about subcompact handguns and if they still matter. In one fell swoop, it effectively ended the reign of both the single stack 9mm and the subcompact pistol. The SIG P365 changed the entire concealed carry marketplace. Could the era of the subcompact be coming to a close? Are there better options out there nowadays? |
